Parish Councillor steps down
After 26 years of service on Radford Semele Parish Council, our chairman Councillor Stanley Sabin has decided it is time to step down.
Published: 6 February 2026
Cllr Sabin stood for election to the Parish Council, successfully, in 1987 and served until 2003, being Vice-Chairman 1992-1994, Chairman 1994-1996 and Chairman of the Planning Sub-Committee. He re-joined the Council in May 2015 and has been Chairman since November 2017.
With a dramatic change in councillors in May 2023 when many long serving councillors stood down and new councillors were elected, Cllr Sabin has been a steading rudder for the Parish Council, guiding and helping new Parish Councillors in their roles.
His tenacity at holding higher tiers of local government to account has brought many benefits back to the village with improvements to traffic management and funds to improve the village.
He will be sorely missed by his fellow councillors, and we wish him well in wherever his non-council life now takes him.
