NHS England is looking to recruit 10 individuals committed to supporting how we use data across health and social care as patient and public voice (PPV) partners. This work is important because we know NHS England can better use health and social care data, in a way that people trust to benefit people across the UK.
We know that we need to continue to work with the public to build trust and confidence in how the NHS uses data. We want to work with the public to help us understand their views on the changes we are making, and to help us make decisions on what we do next. We recently announced £1.5million funding to run public engagement on how the NHS uses data, so we are in the middle of some exciting changes.
We have different policy areas and programmes that look at specific aspects of how we use data in the NHS and social care. For example, a few areas we are working on include:
- how can we bring your patient records together into one single health record so that you don’t have to repeat yourself every time you go to a different health provider
- how we can better connect information shared within and between hospitals
- how we can conduct health research in a way that the public trusts and benefits from
- what choices you should be able to make about how your data is used in health and social care
- what changes can be made to ensure most beneficial use of the GP Health Record
Our Patient and Public Engagement and Communications Group looks at how we involve and engage the public across data programmes. We’re looking to recruit 10 PPV partners to this group to join us on this journey and to ensure that the public voice is represented at all stages of decision making. We would also like to offer the opportunity of joining other data groups, which we can discuss with you during the application process.
We would welcome applications from people who are interested and passionate about influencing how we engage with and talk to the public about how their data is used in health and social care. We want to see applications from people who are confident talking to senior leaders about the importance of public involvement and engagement and can help advocate for public voice in our data programmes.
These roles are ‘role 4’ positions meaning you can claim involvement fees. More information about these roles can be found in this information pack. If you would like more information or have any questions about the role contact england.healthdatavoices@nhs.net
The deadline to send your application is 12:00 noon 17 January 2025.
Please ensure you complete the application form and equal opportunities monitoring form and email these to england.healthdatavoices@nhs.net before the closing date.
We will contact you with the outcome of your application in the week commencing 20 January and interviews will be held in the week commencing 27 January 2025.
We want to ensure we meet all reasonable adjustments in this application process. Please contact england.healthdatavoices@nhs.net if you would like to discuss your application.
