Establish 30mph Speed Limit on Southam Road Approaching Radford Semele

Bloxham Way junction to Southam Road

During the construction of Crown Hill Gardens, Warwickshire County Council introduced a temporary 30 mph speed limit on the A425 Southam Road leading up to the site access from the east.  However, when the construction drew a close, WCC returned the speed limit back to 40 mph, despite requests from the Parish Council to retain it; WCC citing that the conditions surrounding the junction do not satisfy their criteria to permanently implement a 30 mph speed limit covering the junction.

Residents of Crown Hill Gardens, as well as those from the rest of the village are concerned about the risks of collisions when using the junction as it is close to a bend in the road and the brow of a hill with limited views for those approaching the junction or exiting Bloxham Way.

There have already been a number of incidents, thankfully none have resulted in a serious injury or a fatality.  However, there are real fears that it is only a matter of time before a more serious incident occurs. As at the moment it is only then, that WCC may take their concerns seriously.

A petition has been set up by the District Councillor for people to register their support to press WCC Road Safety Team to review and act on the concerns being raised and implement a 30 mph zone leading from the east up to the junction.
